Chelsea is originally from Elko Nevada, 'the home of Cowboy Poetry.’ As a product of the spacious high dessert, she has a passion for our subconscious connection to our environments and our roots.
She moved to New York to study directing, and quickly became involved in the independent film and theatre scene. She has directed, produced, and developed short films, award-winning web series, and Off-Broadway theatre. She has a particular niche in dark comedy and character driven dramas. Her work has been described as subtle, detailed, and emotionally captivating.
In addition to directing, she is a company member of Hapa Media with her collaborators Leah Kreitz, Dana Kreitz, and Gabe Quiroga. The company’s inaugural film “WHERE IT STOPS” premiered at Chelsea Film Festival in NYC. She is currently directing the company’s new pilot, “COMING OUT” written by Leah Kreitz. In addition to directing and producing, she serves as the Associate Executive Director of The Actors Studio Drama School Repertory season.
Oct. 2019 - ‘ON DEATH & DYING’ a three-part film series co-written by Chelsea along with Dana Kreitz and Griffin Stanton-Ameisan has officially started pre-production, and will be shooting December 2019.
Oct. 2019 - Chelsea is proud to announce she will be directing ‘UNBRIDALED’ a new film by Mischa Dani Goodman and Caitlin Simpson, shooting October 2019 in Massachusetts.
Sept. 2019 - Chelsea produced her first feature, a project with a notable arts foundation in NYC including some very exciting collaborators and guest stars. She is excited to share more about this project in 2020!

Aug. 2019 - ‘WOE IS SHE’, an award winning web series written by Stephanie Fagan, directed by Chelsea B. Lockie, starring Kathleen Simmonds and Stephanie Fagan has received it’s 20th official film festival selection in the web series category. Upcoming festivals in NYC area include ‘New Faces New Voices’ and ‘Golden Door’.

June 2019 - ‘THE INTREPIDS’ written by Julia Rae Maldonado and directed by Chelsea B. Lockie premiered at Theatre Easts 5XPRIDE Drama Series in collaboration with NYC PRIDE. It was shown in all five boroughs of NYC.
‘THE BAND’ written by Stephanie Fagan, directed by Chelsea B. Lockie was granted a full length staged reading at the legendary Actors Studio under the Playwrighting and Directors Unit. The reading featured a power-house team of actors including Timothy Doyle, Kate Taney-Billingsley, Michael Billingsley, Craig Bacon, Jaqueline Knapp, Bryan Hickey, Hannah Beck, and Zack Willis. The unit has been home to theatre legends such as Elia Kazan, Arthur Penn, and Harold Clurman.
‘RADICAL’ written by Sergio Castillo and directed by Chelsea B. Lockie was commissioned for a live podcast reading with THE PARSNIP SHIP. Now available on iTunes, Spotify, and Google Play.
‘WE THREE’ a film co-created by Girl Soup Co(llective) (produced and co-directed by Chelsea B. Lockie) premiered at the NEW OHIO as a part of the SHE CREATES festival.
‘MUSES’ a new full-length play written by Julia Rae Maldonado and directed by Chelsea B. Lockie was given a space grant by the MAKE/SHIFT company for a developmental staged reading at the New Ohio Theater.
